Society announces new Fellows for 2012

The results of the 2012 Fellowship Ballot were announced at an Ordinary meeting in Cape Town on 14th November 2012 and the Society is proud to welcome the following new Fellows :

PROFESSOR GORDON DOUGLAS BROWN
Professor of Immunology, Institute of Medical Sciences, University of Aberdeen. Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and Fellow of the Society of Biology.

PROFESSOR THOMAS EUGENE CLOETE
Vice Rector (Research and Innovation) at the University of Stellenbosch.  Chair of the NEPAD Water Centre of Excellence Executive Board.

PROFESSOR RENEE KRAAN-KORTEWEG
Chair of Astronomy & Head of Department of Astronomy, University of Cape Town, Recently elected Vice-President of the Executive Committee of the IAU (International Astronomical Union)

PROFESSOR KARL SCHILCHER
Professor of Theoretical Physics, Institut fur Physik, Johannes Gutenberg-Universitat, Germany.  He is regarded as a world leader in the fields of High Energy Physics and Quantum Field Theories.

PROFESSOR DAN STEIN
Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry & Mental Health at the University of Cape Town, Director of the Brain-Behaviour Initiative and Director of the MRC Unit on Anxiety & Stress Disorders.

PROFESSOR CAROLYN WILLIAMSON
Professor & Head of Department of Medical Virology, Institute of Infectious Disease & Molecular Medicine, University of Cape Town. She serves on the Executive Committee of CAPRISA, the Scientific Advisory Board of the Poliomyelitus Research Foundation, the Steering Committee of the UK HIV/AIDS Vaccine Consortium, the African AIDS Vaccine Programme (AAVP) Collaborative Centre for Biomedical Research, and the SAB of BVGH Global Health Primer.
