#Cycling4AntibioticAction & #ScienceInAfrica     Wesley Loftie-Eaton, an RSSAf member and microbiologist with a mission, is currently on a self-supported cycle tour from Nairobi, Kenya, to Cape Town, South Africa. Along the way he is visiting different universities as an Antibiotic Champion to raise awareness on the urgent need for better antimicrobial stewardship and the development of new antimicrobial drugs.

On his blog, Wesley also highlights some of the great research already being done in eastern and southern Africa on antibiotic resistance and other important issues. Through his Virgin Money Giving page Wesley aims to raise at least British Pounds 7500 – Donate. These monies will be administered by the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and be used as a technology access grant that will be made available to selected students at the institutes he visits to improve their dissertations relating to antimicrobial resistance.

You can read about the institutes that he has visited thus far and follow his progress on his blog .
